Important Information

Kindly take notice of the following payment arrangements prior to the proofreading and editing of your documents:

 

  • A 50% deposit of the total amount (as set out in the quote) is due and payable before the commencement of any services (including proofreading, editing or any other services relating to the documentation).

  • The remainder of the fee is due and payable upon the completion of the work.

  • *The minimum time for proofreading and editing is usually four (4) weeks, although the edits may be completed sooner according to the schedule of the editor.

  • Based on urgency, the proofreading and editing may be completed sooner at an escalated tariff (+R10.000 p/p in addition to the standard tariff).

  • The full deposit is refundable in the event that the editing process has not commenced.

  • Deposits paid to secure slots are also fully refundable in the event that the client decides not to proceed with the proofreading and editing services, only if no edits have been made.

  • The reimbursement of the deposit is subject to edits that have already been made.

  • You will be charged for the edits made in the event of cancellation.

  • All changes will be made in Word format, unless indicated otherwise.

  • Track changes will not be enabled, unless requested so by you.

  • Additional comments and suggestions (relating to citation/structure) will be made via the comments section on the Word document.

  • Remember, as the author of the work, you have the discretion to accept, reject, change or amend the suggestions, changes and edits of the editor.

  • Take notice that no edits on the merits (structure, substance, arguments or content) of the work will be made in a co-author capacity.

  • The proofreading and editing of the work does not include any guidance, amendments or edits on the merits, structure, substance, arguments or content of the work.

  • The proofreading and editing is strictly limited to my capacity as language and style editor.

  • Upon request, an Editorial Certificate (Declaration of Professional Edit) will be provided – free of charge.

  • This certificate confirms that your work has been language and style edited.
